Welcome to IMPACT at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh
If you agree there must be more to emergency patient care than ABC’s and treating plastic mannequins, then this course will enable you move on to the reality of managing a medical take and allow you to apply all that medicine you have been longing to use; even improving your skills of communication (always difficult with dummies).
The IMPACT course is primarily aimed at trainees in Core Medical Training or Acute Care Common Stem (ST1&2) but we would accept a limited number of FY2s. Already popular throughout the UK and recognised by the medical Royal Colleges, this 2 day course will be held in the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.
The course concentrates on a number of essential components in the management of acutely ill patients, including respiratory disease, gastro-intestinal haemorrhage, chest pain, sepsis and renal failure, by the application of practical skills and scenario involvement. These topics are just a few examples in this highly informative course aimed at providing the clinical template for what you should know very soon after the beginning of run-through training.
