Earlier this year IMPACT appointed its new Deputy National Director to join Dr Magnus Garrioch, IMPACT National Director, in moving IMPACT from good to great.

Dr Gavin J Francis is a Consultant Physician in Acute Medicine at Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust (Aintree), and has been involved with IMPACT for 13 years.

Gavin is an experienced Consultant Physician in Acute Medicine and former Training Programme Director. His main medical interests centre around the Human Factors of Delivering Healthcare and The Deteriorating Patient. He established the North West’s first Medical Emergency Team in 2007, and has held many clinical leadership roles.

At the first Curriculum Design Group Meeting as Deputy National Director, Gavin set out an impressive three-year strategy centred around an immediate comprehensive content review, a “refresh and rebrand” strategy, and the exploration of novel modalities of delivery, plus development of IMPACT outside of the United Kingdom.

It is envisaged that the first two elements of this will be delivered for courses recommending in October 2020.
